Tedious Assembly
When you compare the MD Sports Ping Pong Table to more expensive models, the main difference is obvious right from the start – the assembly. While those Stiga or Joola models take only about 15 minutes to put together, here you’ll need about 3 hours!
The instruction manual is a bit hard to follow but even despite that, the assembly is not too difficult, it just takes a long time. Also some customers received a slightly damaged table or a board with screw holes that did not match up – so they had to use a power drill.
4-Piece Type but Decent Surface
It is a 4-piece table which presents another disadvantage – there is a seam down the middle white line so the board is not perfectly smooth. And in rare occasions the ball can bounce in an unexpected way when hitting the seam. Also a few users reported their table has a substantial 1-inch gap in the middle.
Playback mode
On the other hand the MD Sports table is pretty sturdy, looks nice and for kids or recreational family play it’s completely sufficient. And when you take into account the low price, the surface is just great and offers a solid bounce.
Easy to Fold
Good news is also that folding or switching into the practice mode is fairly easy. However, there are mixed opinions about moving it around – some people mentioned it rolls easily, some wrote a complete opposite.
It comes with two paddles and two balls, but their quality is very low, the paddles feel awful and the balls do not have a good bounce. So we would definitely recommend you to get some quality equipment instead.
Conclusion: Frankly, there are much better tables available – which offer a quick and effortless assembly, higher quality and easier manipulation. But if your main goal is to save money, the MD Sports Table Tennis Set is definitely an option – once you put it together it provides a decent play. Just don’t expect miracles, for some serious use it’s completely insufficient.
